Barbecues Weighing You Down?

Summer is great for enjoying warm weather, fun in the sun and gatherings with friends. Barbecues are synonymous with summer gatherings. They can be filled with great healthy foods such as crisp fresh vegetables, sweet in season-fruit, and local fresh fish.

Or…… they can be made up of hot dogs, hamburgers, rolls, potato and macaroni salads, ice cream and cookies. It is fun to indulge now and then, but foods high in fat, sodium, and sugar are best not enjoyed every day or at weekly barbecues.  It will sabotage your workout efforts and leave you feeling bloated, sluggish, and sleepy. By eating these types of foods you will create a vicious cycle of craving more of these types of food, resulting in a slow process of packing on the summer time pounds.

To avoid the negative effects of barbecues watch your portion control and try this cool, quick, and easy summer side dish that can be enjoyed at any barbecue guilt free. It does not require any cooking and can be ready in minutes.
