Fitness is my Rx for health and happiness. Before I started working out at Y.E.S. Fitness, I was out of shape and had some health problems. I have osteopenia (low bone density in my hips) and I was having some heart problems (occasional atrial fibrillation).
I decided to try Y.E.S. Fitness because my wife had been coming here for several months and she was happy with the results and with the professionalism of the coaches.
I have been coming here for over 6 years and I am in good physical shape, I no longer have heart problems, and I no longer take meds for low bone density. My bone scans show improvement in density due to the weight bearing exercises that we do at the gym.

Age won’t stop me. Fitness has always been an integral part of my life – ever since college. If I wasn’t taking an aerobics class, I was running and training for short races. The only thing I felt I was missing, though, was consistency and upper body strength.
When I joined Y.E.S. Fitness, I was a mom of 2 young children and interested in staying thin, getting in shape and being able to keep up with my children as they grew. Also, I had developed problem knees after the birth of my first son. It was painful to walk up the stairs and simply get down on the floor with my toddlers. I wanted to make sure I could always get on the floor and play with them and jump up to chase them! My physical therapist at the time told me that the way to improve my knees was to exercise. I felt I needed a gym, but something more. Finally, I was interested in improving my upper body strength since I felt I was probably “weaker” than the average woman my age. A friend recommended Y.E.S. Fitness after having great results. She even showed me how big her shorts had gotten! What impressed me the most was that she said it wasn’t an ordinary gym – a Coach works with you each time and she could actually tell the difference. It didn’t hurt that it was only 5 minutes from my house!
At 49, I feel great. I have a tremendous amount of energy…it’s as if I’ve discovered the fountain of youth! I can honestly say that I feel as if I can do anything I want to. My age does not stop me because I feel I have the physical ability to handle it. I also feel stronger than ever. As far as my knees go, they are much better than they were at 38. Although I still have some knee pain occasionally, Chris and the Coaches have been able to work around the knee issue to improve my overall strength and physicality while still improving the overall knee problem. I can get down on the floor and up off the floor with no problem. Stairs are never an issue.
The extra benefit that I received from working out at Y.E.S. Fitness is the family camaraderie that has developed with my “classmates”. They are a tremendous group of people and we have been together for 10 years! You really get to know someone and their family when you consistently see them at 6:00am. Y.E.S. Fitness has been a wonderful experience for me and will continue to be so for many years to come.

I’m a teacher, with the heart health of a teenager! Before I started working out I was an athlete wanna-be with asthma and weight struggles. Any time I played tennis or went bike riding I always had to use my rescue inhaler. Since I have been working out regularly for 12 years with Y.E.S. Fitness, I have gotten to the point where I never have to use my rescue inhaler. I can jog if I want to, golf, play basketball and exercise without struggling. I am stronger and more toned than I have ever been. I feel better, am always told that I look much younger than my 58-plus years and have an EKG of a teenager, as was told by my doctor this past week! My bone density has been stable and my asthma has improved. I used to do aerobics at the town hall before joining the Y.E.S. Fitness team. I did that for a few years, but got bored and knew I had to do something more to build strength. I joined Y.E.S. Fitness because it was close, small, and client oriented. I loved the fact that I was instructed and not left on my own. The support and encouragement was key. Knowing that someone was planning my session and keying in to my needs has led me to 12 years of success. I do believe that I am in much better shape than in my younger years. As a 5th grade teacher, I want to be able to keep up with my students and be a role model for fitness and a healthy lifestyle. I play basketball occasionally with my students and often dance along with them. At 59, I have more energy than some of the younger teachers in my school. I know that with continued commitment and support I will continue to be energetic, flexible, balanced and strong.
